How did "saka" change the life of Tata Selo?

There is a short story that represents the lives of people who are oppressed by others that are privilege enough that is entitled "Tata Selo". Through this story, social awareness was recognized and the unfair treatment of the rich and the poor was vividly shown. In addition, this story is about a farmer who killed his landlord due to personal problems specifically the conflict of "saka" which obviously the job of a farmer and the landlord for rejecting Tata Selo to continuously work on his farm. The point of view of the story was third person where different perspectives and ideas of individual characters are giving hint in achieving a smooth flow of the story.

After reading the story, I felt confused of why did Tata Selo killed the Kabesa for the sake of his work and the "saka". Since, at first I always thought that there are ways to solve things in order to avoid such harmful decisions. There can be at least a better communication between the two. However, at the latter part of the story there is a strong message that it is conveying. That is the situation between the rich and the poor where there should be a consideration of the situation of other people especially Tata Selo in the story. He even beg the Kabesa to keep him in his farm since he still has the abilities to do such work which the Kabesa did not even bother to understand and change his decision. As Tata Selo became arrested and put in the jail, there are a lot of people questioning the situation whether it is true or not. He explained the same reason to the other people like what he said to the Kabesa. But, there is no choice but to put him in the jail. Due to these, the story portray the message of injustice in our society if it is compared in reality. The power of a rich man holds is very different to a normal/poor person. "Life is unfair", but it can be fair if people on our surroundings have a kind heart that can listen, understand and help other people.

In line with these, as an educated person who is pursuing his dreams I promise to myself that there must always be a space of kindness to my heart in order for other people to do the same if they also experience such situations. Also, I want to at least educate other people to know and exercise their rights in order to fight with justice and fair. There are fights on our lives that can be defeated through living rightly. Victims should have the courage to "speak up" or else they might end up "spit up" in this society by the bullies.
